Where the trapped SOL in your wallet comes from

Solana makes every token account hold a refundable rent deposit. Buy or receive a new token and your wallet opens an account for it, locking up to ~0.002 SOL in the process.

Once you sell or send out the full balance, the account is left open and empty, and the deposit stays locked. For traders in Lagos, Abuja and across Nigeria who move in and out of memecoins, use trading bots or swap through DEX aggregators, hundreds of these can pile up. Closing them sends every deposit back to your wallet. Strictly speaking it’s your own SOL, but most people only notice it once it comes back.

  1. Buy a token: an account opens and locks ~0.002 SOL
  2. Sell it all: the account stays open, the SOL stays locked
  3. Claim it: the account closes and the SOL comes back to you

Claim your SOL: FAQs for users in Nigeria

Straight answers before you reclaim SOL from your token accounts.

What does it mean to claim your SOL?

Solana sets aside a small rent deposit, up to ~0.002 SOL, in every token account your wallet opens. When an account has nothing left in it, you can close it and get the deposit back. That’s all claiming your SOL is: closing empty accounts and sending the SOL back to your wallet.

Is it really free SOL?

It’s your own SOL. You paid it as a deposit when each token account was opened, and most people never realised it was sitting there. That’s why it feels like free SOL when it comes back. The scan costs nothing, and our 0.5% applies only to what you claim.

How much SOL can I get back?

Each empty token account holds up to ~0.002 SOL. Accounts opened before September 2026 hold 0.00203928 SOL, and newer ones hold less since Solana’s 2026 rent reduction. With older accounts, 250 empty ones come to about 0.51 SOL before the fee. Your scan shows the exact number before you sign.

Is it safe to connect my wallet?

Connecting shares your public address and nothing else. No SOL or token can move unless you approve it, and every transaction is built in your browser and simulated by your wallet first. We never ask for your seed phrase. Anyone who does is trying to steal from you.

Will my tokens or NFTs be deleted?

No. Only zero-balance accounts can be closed, and any account holding a token or NFT is left out automatically. If that token comes back to you later, your wallet just opens a new account for it.

Why are some of my empty accounts skipped?

Some are frozen by the token issuer, and some Token-2022 accounts have a close authority that isn’t your wallet. We detect both cases and skip those accounts so the transaction goes through cleanly.

Can I claim SOL from an exchange account like Quidax or Roqqu?

No. Claiming works only with self-custody wallets such as Phantom, Solflare and Backpack. When your crypto sits on a centralised exchange like Quidax or Roqqu, the exchange controls the token accounts, so there’s nothing on your side to close. The accounts you can claim from are the ones in a wallet you hold the keys to.

What is my claimed SOL worth in naira?

Your claim card shows an approximate ₦ value beside the SOL amount, using a live SOL price. Prices move quickly, so treat the naira figure as a snapshot rather than a fixed amount. Nothing on this page is financial or tax advice.

How much does it cost?

We charge a flat 0.5% of the SOL you reclaim. On top of that is Solana’s normal network fee, well under 0.0001 SOL per transaction. Reclaim 1 SOL and 0.995 SOL is yours.

That SOL belongs to you. Go and claim it.

A free scan takes around 5 seconds, and you’ll see the total in SOL and naira before you approve anything.
