Why your Solana wallet is holding back SOL

On Solana, every token account has to keep a small, refundable rent deposit. Whenever a new token lands in your wallet, an account is opened for it and up to ~0.002 SOL gets locked inside.

Sell or transfer the full balance and that account doesn’t close by itself, so the SOL stays stuck. Indian traders who rotate through memecoins on pump.fun or trade through bots can easily end up with hundreds of empty accounts. Close them and the deposits come straight back to you. It was always your SOL, but it rarely feels that way until it shows up again.

  1. Buy a token: an account opens and locks ~0.002 SOL
  2. Sell it all: the account stays open, the SOL stays locked
  3. Claim it: the account closes and the SOL comes back to you

Claim your SOL: FAQs for users in India

Quick answers before you reclaim SOL from your empty token accounts.

What does “claim your SOL” mean?

Every token account your wallet opens on Solana holds a small rent deposit of up to ~0.002 SOL. Once an account is empty, closing it releases that deposit. “Claiming your SOL” simply means closing those empty accounts so the SOL returns to your wallet.

Is this really free SOL?

Not quite free: it’s SOL that was yours all along, set aside as a deposit when each token account was created. Most people have no idea it’s there, which is why getting it back feels like a bonus. Scanning costs nothing, and we take 0.5% only of what you actually claim.

How much SOL can I claim?

Up to ~0.002 SOL per empty token account. Accounts opened before September 2026 hold 0.00203928 SOL each, while newer ones hold less because of Solana’s 2026 rent reduction. As a rough guide, 50 older empty accounts add up to about 0.1 SOL before the fee, and 500 come to about 1 SOL. The scan gives you the exact figure before you sign.

Is it safe to connect my wallet?

Yes. Connecting shares only your public address, and nothing can move without your approval. Each transaction is built in your browser and simulated by your wallet before you sign. We will never ask for your seed phrase, and if any site does, close it.

Will closing accounts delete my tokens or NFTs?

No. Only accounts with a balance of exactly zero can be closed, so anything holding a token or an NFT is never included. If you receive a token again after its account was closed, your wallet just opens a fresh one.

Why can’t some of my empty accounts be closed?

A few accounts are frozen by the token’s issuer, and some Token-2022 accounts have a close authority that belongs to someone other than you. SOLclaimer spots these and leaves them out so your transaction doesn’t fail.

Can I claim SOL from an exchange account like CoinDCX or Mudrex?

No. SOLclaimer works with self-custody wallets such as Phantom, Solflare and Backpack, where you hold the keys. On a centralised exchange like CoinDCX or Mudrex, the exchange controls the token accounts, not you, so there’s nothing for you to close. Only accounts in a wallet you control can be claimed.

What is my claimed SOL worth in rupees?

The claim card shows an approximate ₹ value next to your SOL amount, based on a live SOL price. Treat it as a guide only: the SOL price moves all the time, so the rupee figure can change between your scan and any later conversion. Nothing here is financial or tax advice.

What are the fees?

A flat 0.5% of the SOL you reclaim, plus Solana’s standard network fee, which is well under 0.0001 SOL per transaction. Reclaim 1 SOL and you keep 0.995 SOL. The scan itself is free.
